Champions League: Lucky Luiz

The Champions League continues tonight, with Manchester United traveling to Basel and Chelsea to Azerbaijani champions Qarabag.

Chelsea currently lie second in Group C and need to be their opponents to reach the last 16. The Blues won 6-0 in the reverse fixture at Stamford Bridge, and will want to bounce back from their hefty defeat in Rome last time out in this competition.

Although there is the chance that manager Antonio Conte rests some players ahead of a visit to Anfield at the weekend, we still think his side will be too strong and could score a few goals. We think Conte could use this game to reintroduce David Luiz back into the side, and he will be keen to make a statement. Luiz is 9/1 to score at anytime, and we will partake of this.

Manchester United have a much firmer grip on Group A, only needing a draw to qualify for the knockout stage as group winners.

That said they have a tougher task – Basel have beaten United at home at this stage before, in December 2011.

Given United’s strong position, manager Jose Mourinho could rest players but the team is still likely to be set to be strong defensively. We’ll take United to win without conceding.

Recommendations:

Luiz to score at anytime, 1 pt, at 9/1, William Hill

Man United to win to nil, 1 pt, at 2/1, widely available
