Wednesday Races: Clan’s the man…

On a busy Wednesday we’re heading to beautiful Northumberland  and the farmlands of Hexham.

When they say it’s heavy ground at Hexham you’d better bring a boat.  The forecast conditions are likely to be truly gruelling and proven ability to go in the mud will be essential.

That immediately brings us to Clan Legend, the strapping son of Midnight Legend, and the budding stable star for Neil Alexander’s yard.

Since finishing 10th of 17 at Perth on good ground in April 2015, he has been exclusively campaigned on soft or heavy ground winning 6 of those 11 starts.

Although coming off the back of last year’s successful chasing campaign, he steps back to hurdles here off a 6lb lower hurdles rating.

Top weight is partially alleviated by the jockey’s 5lb claim, and as the trainers son we can expect him to know the horse well.

On his last visit to this course, on heavy ground, Clan Legend made all to win over fences comfortably off a mark of 118.  His hurdles rating today is again 118, and he can repeat that previous course success.

Recommendation: Clan Legend, (1435 Hexham), 1pt win, 11/4 generally available
