The Premier League weekend starts with a home game for Chelsea against Newcastle.
This sees the return of Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez to the club he managed briefly, and it’s unlikely he will get a warm reception.
Chelsea have a very good record against the Magpies, losing only one of their last 22 home league games against these opponents, and we expect them to win again. But so do the bookies. Eden Hazard was rested for most of Wednesday’s game against Swansea, and we take the Belgian star to score as part of an anytime treble.
The second game sees Liverpool travel to the south coast to take on Brighton.
The Reds had a difficult game at Stoke midweek, but won thanks to late goals from Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian star came on as a late substitute, but such is the form of the league’s top scorer that he was still able to score twice. We take him to score again.
The third game sees Tottenham travel a few miles up the road to take on Watford.
The home team has never beaten Spurs in the Premier League–Tottenham won 4-1 in this fixture last year–and we expect a similar result this time in what is likely to be an open game.
Spurs had a disappointing result midweek, but we look for them to bounce back, lead by star striker Harry Kane.
Recommendation: Hazard, Salah and Kane all to score in a treble, 1 pt, at approximately 5/1, William Hill
