Tuesday Races: Skip to the winner’s enclosure

No huge odds for yesterday’s winning tip Bold Spirit (“Monday Races: That’s the Spirit”), but he could be called the winner about 6f from home, which was pretty impressive in a 7f race.

We return to Southwell today looking to follow up that success, although we’ll be leaving the fibresand behind as today’s meet is a return to jumping.

It’s not too often that a horse charts a course from the Cheltenham Festival to the Punchestown Festival and then to a Tuesday afternoon at Southwell, but that is the campaign of today’s tip Skipthecuddles.

He improved throughout last season to the extent he was thrown into a top class  Neptune hurdle come March, finishing a respectable 8th of 15.  A handicap debut at Punchestown saw him come 12th of 25, but that was a hot race and he finished amongst some decent animals.

He ran well for a long way on seasonal debut at Ayr on very soft ground under a big weight, being pulled up quickly once tired.

That should have him spot on for this. Top weight again should be less of a burden on this better surface, and he could be a class above these opponents.

He looks well worth strong support.

Recommendation: Skipthecuddles, (1350 Southwell), 1pt win, 9/1 generally available
