Tuesday Races: Goodness Gracious…

Another weather-weakened day with the best prospect of action on the dirt at Lingfield.

Happily they have a few valuable races that have attracted some decent horses.  The highlight of which is the 5f dash (1410).

Favourite Alsvinder has been in flying form, but will face competition for the lead in this step up in class and may be worth taking on.

We like last year’s winner of this Gracious John.  He showed huge improvement last winter in his first taste of artificial surfaces ending the all weather campaign on a mark of 109.

His turf form is not quite so good and his rating dropped through the Summer to 98, dragging his AW rating down to the 101 he races off here.

That looks generous as he may well improve back to close to that 109 rating now he feels the dirt back beneath his feet.

His running style is ideal for Lingfield in particular, with good early speed allowing him to grab the pocket just behind the lead horses and the strike off the home bend.

Everything about the race looks ideal and he gets a confident thumbs up.

Recommendation: Gracious John, (1410 Lingfield), 2pts win, 3/1 generally available
