Well it’s the big week for Christmas shopping so we a want a little extra in the pocket.
Today we head to lovely West Wales and a wet Ffos Las. The ground is heavy and this is going to be a truly gruelling test.
Many punters will want to be with recent heavy ground course winner, Magical Man in the staying chase (1515). That was the latest in a career of heavy ground and Ffos Las wins. That said, at 10yo he is being asked to beat his lifetime highest rating.
The runner up to him last time Misty Mai was narrowly beaten and the owner and trainer clearly fancy their chances of a reversal, albeit on only his third run over fences.
We prefer to take a chance with a horse who should love Ffos Las.
Wood Yer is a true slugger. We know this fella well and these conditions should be ideal.
Forget his poor seasonal debut on good ground at Cheltenham – a combo that would never help him – and also forget his follow up effort at Uttoxeter, a Marmite couse that he didn’t take to.
What does suit is boggy ground, and he’ll get that aplenty. The small field can allow him to find a rhythm, and this looks an ideal chance to bounce back to form.
Recommendation: Wood Yer, (1515 Ffos Las), 1pt run, 7/2 generally available
