The League Cup quarter-finals kick off tonight, with the first two ties.
Today’s highlight is Premier League leader Manchester City traveling to the King Power Stadium to take on Leicester City.
Manchester City have been fantastic this season, only losing one game and that was a dead rubber in the Champions League. They come into this game fresh from dismantling Tottenham on Saturday.
However, it’s pretty clear this tournament is not high on the club’s list of priorities, and changes to the lineup are likely. That doesn’t mean the team will be poor, but a weakened side lacking motivation may offer up the possibility of an upset.
The Foxes, by contrast, will not need winding up. Reasonably safe in the league, this game offers the opportunity for Leicester’s players to remember the spotlight from a couple of years ago.
With a home crowd likely offering vocal support, we’ll take the 11/2 that Leicester come out on top.
The second tie sees Arsenal entertain West Ham. The home team are also likely to make changes, but we think the Hammers will have their eyes in their next league game, given their need for points, and thus we expect a home win. The bookies agree, and thus we’ll leave this game alone.
Recommendation: Leicester to beat Man City, 1 pt, at 11/2, widely available
