A nice little midweek card at Newbury holds plenty of promise but also looks tricky for betting, with some falsely short favourites looking vulnerable.
We prefer Ludlow, and the staying chase (1430) which has attracted a good field.
Our pick is the James Bowen ridden Relentless Dreamer. Bowen is well worth the five pound claimers allowance, and that puts our selection on a dangerous rating of 127.
Rebecca Curtis had a torrid season last year but has just started to ease back into things with her now well handicapped stable.
This horse provided one of those signs of recovery when going close here last time in a decent race.
That was a fine effort emphasised by an 8l gap back to the rest. A 3lb rise is fair albeit ineffective with the claim for James Bowen.
Curtis will be desperate to see a change in fortune and an effort like last time should suffice.
Recommendation: Relentless Dreamer, (1420 Ludlow), 1pt win, 6/1 generally available
