Premier League: Honours even at Emirates

There’s a cracking start to the Premier League weekend, as Liverpool travel to the Emirates to take on Arsenal tonight.

This is a game between two sides that are much more comfortable going forward than defending, as typified by this fixture last year – a 4-3 win for the visitors.

Arsenal have a strong home record, second only to runaway leader Manchester City, but suffered a recent setback when losing to Manchester United, while Liverpool have been impressive away from home of late, but still lost heavily to both City and Tottenham.

This is a tough game to call, but vitally important to both sides. The two teams lie in fifth (Arsenal) and fourth (Liverpool) positions in the league, and look to be fighting for the crucial last Champions League spot.

The bookies have priced in plenty of goals on this game, understandably, but we feel the importance of the result could mean the game turns out to be less free-flowing than might have been expected. We’ll go for a 1-1 draw, with both teams living to fight another day.

Recommendation: A 1-1 draw, 1 pt, at 15/2, William HillĀ
