The opening game of Saturday’s Premier League program sees Chelsea travel north to take on Everton.
A few weeks ago this would have been an easy game to predict, but the appointment of Sam Allardyce as manager of Everton has given the blue half of Liverpool a boost. The home side have won four of their last five games, drawing the other, climbing out of the relegation zone into the top half of the table.
They now face a Chelsea side which has lost just once in their last 10 games, winning eight.
However, despite Everton’s improved form, we at Lap of the Odds think Chelsea will cause the home side too many problems for them to cope.
As far as a bet is concerned, Chelsea’s main striker Alvaro Morata is suspended. This may mean Eden Hazard plays as a false number nine, and we think his pace and movement will create nightmares for the Everton back line. He is favourite to be man of the match, but we feel 4/1 is a fair price.
Recommendation: Hazard to win man of the match, 1 pt, at 4/1, William Hill
