Most will be remembering yesterday as the day Faugheen slumped at Leopardstown, but for blog followers it was the day Mind’s Eye delivered under a patient Davy Russell for a 4/1 reward (Friday Races: Simple Mind’s).
Today, Newbury takes centre stage and we will wait for the Mandarin Chase (1425) and the Lucy Wadham trained Potters Legend.
We were on the Legend as an outside tip for the Kim Muir at the Cheltenham Festival where he ran well for fourth place. A fourth at Aintree was also good form, whilst this season, a couple of fair warmup runs preceded his last run when 7th in the Ladbroke (nee Hennessy).
He was beaten over 30l in that Newbury race, but its a top handicap there and 7th is a very respectable outcome.
This is a drop in class, and a useful drop in the weights helps create a good chance for Potters to register an overdue success..
Recommendation: Potters Legend (1425 Newbury), 1pt win, 15/2 BetVictor
