Premier League: Midfield magic

The weekend’s Premier League program continues this afternoon with Manchester City’s trip to Selhurst Park to take on Crystal Palace.

City look to equal the record winning run from Europe’s top five leagues of 19 games, and now face a Palace side that they have beaten in 14 of their last 15 meetings in all competitions.

True, Palace are more organised and have a better structure under Roy Hodgson, but surely City have too much for them. And the man pulling the strings for City these days is their Belgian midfielder Kevin de Bruyne. We’ll take the 4/1 that William Hill offers that he wins the man of the match award.

The second game of the day sees Arsenal travel to West Brom to continue their search of a top four spot.

The Gunners did well to beat Palace away from home last time out, but the concession of two goals suggests they are still vulnerable when visiting lower ranked sides.¬†And West Brom have won their last two home games against today’s visitors.

All that said, Arsenal did win against Palace, helped in no small part by a brace of goals from Alexis Sanchez. The Chilean midfielder has shown a return to form, including scoring to start Arsenal’s comeback against Liverpool the previous game. With his record of three goals in his last four league games against West Brom, we’ll take the 4/1 that he is today’s man of the match.
