The FA Cup 3rd round continues today, with the early game summing up the appeal of the competition.
Premier League champions just a couple of years ago, Leicester City travel to Highbury Stadium to take on Fleetwood Town.
The first time Fleetwood reached this stage in this competition was seven seasons ago. They also reached the 3rd round in 2012 – they lost, but their goal was scored by a certain Jamie Vardy. In fact, that season Vardy scored 34 goals for Fleetwood.
Spin forward a few years and Vardy will be in the Leicester side (injury and selection permitting) that Fleetwood will be trying to knock out.
We think the Leicester team will have pinpointed this competition as one they can win, and Vardy in particular will be keen to let his former club know what they are missing. We take Leicester to win and take the 9/2 on offer that Vardy scores at least two goals.
Additionally, we also expect Newcastle to beat Luton at home and a high flying Wolves to overturn Swansea. With Leicester included, that’s a treble we will be on.
Vardy to score at least two for Leicester, 1 pt, at 4/1, William Hill
Leicester, Newcastle and Wolves to all win as a treble, 1 pt, at approximately 3/1, Paddy Power
