FA Cup: Hammers stalemate

The FA Cup third round weekend continues, with four more ties. We’ll concentrate on games involving London clubs.

Firstly, Tottenham host AFC Wimbledon, in what should be an easy win for the home side, even if they rest a few players. However, odds of 1/10 for a home win means we’ll leave this game alone.

The earlier clash sees West Ham travel to Shrewsbury, in a very interesting clash. The Hammers have a number of injury worries and are thus likely to select quite a changed team. This may prove tricky against a Shrewsbury side pushing for automatic promotion in League One. Shrewsbury have based their success this season on a strong defence, and we think this will be enough to earn them a draw and a lucrative replay.

The late game sees Arsenal travel to Nottingham Forest. The Gunners have a great record in this competition–they have won it three times in the last four years–and will be keen to win through without the need of another game on the form of a replay. Forest are struggling in the Championship and have a poor record against today’s opponent. We’ll take an away win.

Recommendation: Arsenal to win and a draw in Shrewsbury/West Ham as a double, 1 pt, at approximately 4/1, William Hill
