Sunday Races: Lewis leading heavyweight

Well the Welsh National was about as frustrating as can be with Vintage Clouds jumping like an elephant but showing a marathon engine by running into a place – he’ll be some animal if he jumps.  Raz de Maree lost out on being the tip in a game of either/or, the same game denying us  Buywise at Sandown.  If I had any hair left it would be torn out.

No such confusion in the weekend’s second big regional National – Plumpton’s Sussex National !!

We are big fans of Harry Whittington and he trains the unexposed Vinnie Lewis.  He gets one of the bigger weights having slammed a small field at Sedgefield.

On the face of it that might seem harsh, but this horse was always destined for these types of races being a mud-loving endless slogger, and all the form to date has just been a passport to contest these marathons.

The sharp track at Plumpton should suit and he is confidently expected to kick off a Nationals campaign with a win here.

Recommendation:  Vinnie Lewis, (1445 Plumpton), 2pts win, 11/2 generally available
