Friday Races: Sedgefield fit for a King

Our love of a regional “National” grows ever stronger as yesterday’s North Yorkshire pick, I Just Know, performed exactly as hoped on the track with a front running win, the bonus being that he didn’t perform as expected off the track, drifting to a tasty 4/1 return.

No “National” today, and we have to make do with some tightly priced markets.  Sedgefield often catches our eye ( a lovely day out if you can find it) and we turn there for a pick.

Sedgefield soft is an acquired ground preference, and in the long distance chase  (1510) the course will be a test for in form Hedgeinator.  He travels half of Western Europe to get to the race and looks likely to vie for favourite under boy wonder James Bowen.

His market rival Kings Eclipse will be using all the local advantages.  His smooth debut chasing win last time came at this course and on this going.  He also has the top jockey of the North in Brian Hughes who looks likely to ride a few winners today.

All those local advantages….should tick up to a winning one at the end of 3 1/4 soggy miles.

Recommendation: Kings Eclipse, (1510 Sedgefield), 1pt win, 2/1 generally available
