If only we could have a regional “National “ every day. An amazing run for us at these mid-level mud-slogs continued with yesterday’s 15/2 pick Themanfrom Minella who led from start to finish to pick up the much vaunted Somerset National at Wincanton.
No dubiously titled marathons today, but we will look to repeat yesterday’s success with a similar tactical ploy.
The Sue Smith trained Swing Hard is an out and out front runner who loves to dominate from the offset.
Sharpened up by a decent season’s debut at Haydock recently, this 10yo should be ideally suited by both the better ground here and a track that habitually favours horses on or near the speed.
Swing Hard is just 6lbs higher than when impressively making all at Wetherby last Spring, and with no other confirmed pace-setters he may just get the uncontested lead that is the tactical dream for all front runners.
Jockey Danny Cook knows the horse well, and top weight of 12st may look daunting but it simply serves to show that at his best, Swing Hard is in a different class to this opposition.
Kick on Danny, right hand down and never touch the brake…
Recommendation: Swing Hard, (1455 Musselburgh), 1pt win, 10/3 generally available.
