Wednesday Races: Let there be Light…

We are in need of another regional National to give us a further boost to January results.  Disappointingly there is nothing of the sort on offer this afternoon, but a muddy Exeter should at least ensure a proper test of stamina.

Exeter is one of the biggest courses in the country, when you’re there you be forgiven for thinking the end of the back straight is in Cornwall.

When a course has unique characteristics it plays to the horses for courses theory.

The 2m handicap (1450), looks the most open event on the card.  Georgieshore could be interesting having won at Leicester yesterday but it would be a surprise if he turns out again so soon.

But putting the horses for courses theory to the test suggests Norse Light is the one to follow.

He ran here three times in the Autumn with two wins and a third. He is only 5lbs higher than the hurdle win in that sequence and should go well here back at this course.

As a son of Norse Dancer, ground conditions should be ideal, and the trainer-jockey combo of Dennis and Fehily remain in excellent form.

Recommendation:  Norse Light, 1450 Exeter, 1pt win, 5/1 Bet365 BetVictor
