Friday Races: Get One up on bookies…

A truly exasperating Thursday, where a late market plunge on winner Monbeg Notorious confirmed we’d picked the wrong one of Gordon’s at Gowran, whilst we earlier watched blog pet Presenting Percy win, and last week’s non-runner selection King Uther storm in at a big price.  Such days are sent to try us.

Thankfully Friday provides some fine distractions, firstly our own horse The Go Tou Man continues his education at Huntingdon (no bet) and then there’s racing at one of our favourite tracks, Doncaster.

And it’s at Donny that we will focus our betting strategy.  First up is promising young chaser Bako De La Saulaie.  Rose Dobbin’s 7yo has been generously dropped 3lb for a promising 4th on seasonal debut.  His pace pressing style should suit this chase course and he can continue the progress that saw him win his final two races of last season.

An hour later it could be a female jockey in the winner’s enclosure as Lizzie Kelly rides recent all-the-way Ascot winner One Of Us for the in form Nick Williams.

He is only 4lbs higher for that win which looks very kind indeed given that he beat a field of 14 at a top class track.

Again a prominent run-style can go well here and Lizzie has repeatedly shown she is a fine judge of pace from the front.

Recommendations:

Bako De La Saulaie, (1505 Doncaster), 1pt win, 9/2 generally available

One Of Us, (1610 Doncaster), 1pt win, 7/2 generally available

Bako De La Saulaie & One Of Us, 1pt win double, approx 24/1
