Premier League: Mo to win MoM

It’s back to the Premier League tonight, after the uncertainty of selection and commitment in the FA Cup. And a couple of the league’s big boys are in action.

First up, Swansea entertain Arsenal. A few weeks ago this result would be a no brainer, but since the appointment of Carlos Carvalhal as manager the Swans have lost just one of seven games, including beating Liverpool last time out in the league. They will also fancy turning over an Arsenal side which has yet to win an away game in 2018.

And they may do. However, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang [typing this name out on a regular basis could give me cramp!] potentially arriving soon, the Arsenal forward line have every incentive to impress. But with star striker Alexandre Lacazette scoring in just two of 12 away games, a price of evens doesn’t offer value.

Instead we’ll turn to the televised game tonight for our bet. This sees two old managerial friends taking on each other, as Huddersfield entertain Liverpool.

Respective managers David Wagner and Juergen Klopp played together at Mainz and managed together at Borussia Dortmund, Klopp with the first team and Wagner with the reserve side.

However, friendship aside, they both need the points. Huddersfield lie just two points off the relegation zone while Liverpool need to rebound after losing two games in a row.

Liverpool won the reverse fixture 3-0 earlier in the season, and we think they will again create chances tonight.

Mo Salah has been in inspired form all season, scoring 18 Premier League goals in 24 games, and crucially seven in 11 away fixtures. The fewest games needed to score 20 league goals by a Liverpool player is 27. We’ll take a punt that he takes a step closer to this record tonight, and with that secure the man of the match award.

Recommendation: Salah to win man of the match award, 1 pt, at 4/1, William Hill
