An extraordinary day of jump racing from all corners, with a top Sandown meeting, and eye-catching Musselburgh card, and the inaugural day of the new Leopardstown Racing Festival. (Throw in Six Nations and Premier League and this could happily be our Groundhog Day).
The Daily Yankee:
Bel Ami De Sivola (1455 Leopardstown), 12/1: Clear claims for well weighted novice That’s A Wrap, and an interesting jockey booking for Patricks Park, but this is a very different challenge for them. Bel Ami De Sivola ran a gallant second in just such a race here at Christmas and looks value to finally get his head in front.
Relentless Dreamer (1515 Musselburgh), 12/1: We love a regional “National”, and the Edinburgh version looks an open affair. The booking of Brian Hughes and a sounder surface should suit Relentless Dreamer who could be unexposed over these marathon trips.
Final Nudge (1535 Sandown), 9/2: Has been running well without winning in two runs this year. Looked the winner at Chepstow until the petrol ran out, this could be his ideal distance and there’s not too much to run scared of.
Makitorix (1605 Leopardstown), 12/1: One way to keep a horse well handicapped is run it around the back of graded races. Willie has done that with this one, and now pops him in off a low weight with first time hood and tongue tie. A steady stream of money in the week is not guesswork as the headgear is apparently highly effective at home.
So much good value today, we are going to dip into our Yankee picks and then add some to help create a one-day treble to meet our 10 to 10,000 game-changer goal:
10 x Treble:
Relentless Dreamer (1515 Musselburgh), 12/1: as above
Final Nudge (1535 Sandown), 9/2: as above
Folsom Blue (1500 Sandown) 14/1: 3 miles on soft ground around Sandown will be a severe test. The young horses heading the market could find it tough, but it looks significant that Elliott sends this old boy over from Ireland with Barry Gerraghty booked
Cumulative Odds: approx. 1075/1
