Festival clues aplenty yesterday, and a lot to sift through. More could be added by an interesting Punchestown card today.
The Daily Yankee:
Auvergnat, (1340 Punchestown), 5/2: It can be a case of “whose turn is it anyway” in these cross country races between the massed ranks of the Bolger-McManus combo. Josies Orders is best at the weights, but Auvergnat won this last year and is much the younger horse.
Present Times, (1505 Exeter), 9/2: Was a good winner here in similar conditions earlier in the season. Strictly on the book has a tricky task with Lovenormoney, but that one lacks Present Times’ consistency, and a low weight of 10st 4lbs could be essential in this bog.
Cloudy Bob, (1535 Exeter), 4/1: Won just last week at Taunton, and good recent form is a scarcity in this event. Many will be tempted by the back catalogue of Harry Topper, Henri Parri Morgan and Ballynagour, but we will strike whilst the iron is hot with Bob.
Baie Des Iles, (1620 Punchestown), 10/1: This mare has course form of 121, which includes a runner up and win in this race. Still only a 7yo she is entitled to be improving, is only 4lbs above last year’s mark, has Katy Walsh back in the saddle, and ran an encouraging race over far too short last time.
Baie Des Iles 10/1, Present Times 9/2, & Heather Moth 14/1 (1515 Punchestown)- showed a glimpse of form when running on from the back to place at this course a couple of weeks ago. A repeat could get in the mix once again.
Cumulative treble odds: 907/1
