It’s back to bread and butter racing today after dining on the high table all weekend. Thankfully both Catterick and Plumpton are punter-friendly options.
The Daily Yankee:
Gran Maestro, (1535 Catterick), 10/3: Hinted at a return to form when 2nd at Doncaster, franked that by winning at Wetherby, beating a next-time-out winner. Only 3lbs up looks pretty generous and he can go in again.
Le Couer Net, (1550 Plumpton), 5/6: The Honeyball stable is in good form, deserves a break after losing a top horse, and in this fella they have one who scooted in here last time. An 8lb penalty is usually severe, but the ease of his win suggests he can cope.
Straidnahanna, (1605 Catterick), 2/1: Has run here in Jan ’15, Feb’16 and Jan’17 winning all three off ratings of 128, 129 and 132. Now returns off 130 having had an overly ambitious tilt at Eider, Topham, Scottish National and Becher. These calmer waters, drop in class, and return to unbeaten venue can rekindle the fire.
Sandhurst Lad, (1620 Plumpton), 3/1: Was a very good winner here over a shorter trip earlier in the season and returned with a staying on second last time. Now with champion Richard Johnson in the saddle he will be very had to pass.
Note: “The Gamechanger” will return for weekends and major midweek meetings and festivals.
