Our Yankees are being struck by the single-winner curse, that’s set to change today (for the better). Racing is restricted to Southwell sands, but that still provides ample opportunity as this is a well above average Southwell meeting.
The Daily Yankee:
Arkadian Empire, (1420 Southwell), 6/1: Ignore a sound beating on a different surface last time, and on previous Southwell running holds Ingleby Spring who in turn holds hot favourite Star Ascending. Can hit the winners enclosure for an in form team.
Ruler Of The Nile, (1455 Southwell), 11/2: Another to run badly away from here last time. But on previous running here was a close second to subsequent winner. Marathon trip might suit better than some of the others, and ought to go well.
Mixboy, (1525 Southwell), 6/1: Better known as a chaser but was successful twice on soft in the Summer turf flat season. Has to adapt to this surface, but soft ground form is a good guide and if allowed to run free off the front, then could be hard to overhaul even for the hot favourite.
Mister Music, (1600 Southwell), 5/1: A seemingly exposed 9yo, coming off a break and 33/1 – Mister Music was a shock winner here last time, albeit an easy one. A revised mark of 77 is still low versus his lifetime record and maybe the sand will be his rejuvenation. Recent winner Angel Palanas maybe found out by the trip, whist 7yo Sooqaan is up 10lbs for the last win of his treble and on a lifetime high mark.
