As the great Van Morrison said “My momma always told me, there’d be days like this”. Yes, having instigated a half-way golf bet strategy we have made it essential by missing the cut with both original Oman Open selections.
Wrong Frenchman (for us) Matthieu Pavon looks prohibitively priced at 5/2 holding a 2 shot lead.
The links nature of the course has prevailed as the dominant form guide with renowned linksters Matthew Southgate, Chris Wood and Joost Luiten in close pursuit.
Both Southgate and Wood look fair at around 10s, but although he is a further 2 shots back, and 5 from Pavon, Luiten is an experienced links player who rarely lets a winning chance slip and has a faint whiff of Ryder Cup in his nostrils.
If there’s a third round Joost boost, then he could well be favourite for the final round.
Recommendation: Joost Luiten, Oman Open, 1pt win, 18/1 Ladbrokes
