Friday Yankee: Our weekend starts here

Finally, at the end of a long week we get some decent jumps action with a Friday Sandown card.

The Daily Yankee:

Gassin Golf, (1320 Sandown), 7/2:  Sandown plus soft ground equals heaven when it comes to Gassin Golf.  He again showed last time his liking for the conditions when an excellent third to Call Me Lord in a better race than this recently.  He does need to convert decent placed efforts into a win, but this drop in class gives him his best chance.

Rathlin Rose, (1500 Sandown), 9/4:  Appreciated the drop in class into these military rider events when picking two up here last spring.  Has run well since in better company including a good effort in the Welsh National.  Can be forgiven pulling up shortly after that Chepstow slog, and refreshed and returned here this course specialist cab get the better of potentially awkward ride Orbasa.

Melangerie, (1425 Sandown), 7/2:  Nicky Henderson has a deep roster of useful mares, as such any mares race he targets should be taken seriously. His representative here comes off the back of two tidy Ludlow wins, and whilst this is a step up in class, this promising and lightly raced mare looks set to take it in her stride.

Step Back, (1605 Sandown), 11/4:  A very lightly raced ex point to point horse, he was a very useful 9th in the Albert Bartlett last year on only his second hurdles start, and this is only his second chasing start after failing to hold off an outsider at Chepstow finishing miles clear of the rest.  He has the raw talent to win this, and his pointing experience should help him jump with the fluency needed to stretch this field.
