Well that was a bruising couple of days. After the slipped saddle/broken irons fiasco of Oscar Rose on Tuesday, yesterday we went the full 3 points on the promising Eagle Lion at Punchestown. A walk in the market indicated doom, and that was followed (as always) by gloom when pulled up 3 out and was found to be coughing. Desperate luck.
These things happen. And it’s best to keep falling back on the basics.
They come little more basic than backing a recent winner to simply repeat. Must Havea Flutter showed his first signs of form when dropped into a handicap chase at Market Rasen on Sunday.
It wasn’t the strongest race, but what a display of form, always travelling well, he took it up 4 out and was easing down for a 10l win.
He gets a 7lb penalty for that, but is probably heading for a 12lb hike once the handicapper assesses that effort. This race holds few terrors and if he can back up that performance just 4 days later then it is hard to see him getting beaten.
He’ll probably get struck by a meteorite the way things are going, but we’ll trust him to come home like a comet.
Recommendation: Must Havea Flutter, (1640 Huntingdon), 1pt win, 7/4 generally available
