Wembley hosts the final of the Carabao Cup Sunday, that’s the League Cup to most, with Manchester City facing Arsenal.
This is the first meeting between these two sides in a major final, although Arsenal did come out on top 2-1 in last season’s FA Cup semifinal.
That said, it will be City that start as firm favourites. They have lost just once in the past five meetings between the two sides, winning the Premier League meeting 3-1 earlier this season.
City also seem to have a fondness for this competition. They will be making their sixth appearance in a League Cup final, and third in the last five years. And of the previous five they have lost just the one, in 1974.
Their defeat to Wigan in the FA Cup last week means they can no longer win all four trophies, but it will also have removed any possibility of complacency.
We think City will have too much for an Arsenal side that has defensive weaknesses, and we look to potential player of the season Kevin de Bruyne to pull the strings in midfield.
Most bookies are offering around 3/1 for the Belgian to win the man of the match award, but William Hill offers 6/1. We will be on this.
Recommendation: Kevin de Bruyne to win man of the match, 1 pt, at 6/1, William Hill
