For once we get some half-decent Sunday racing in the UK. The feature meeting is at Fontwell, and we go there for our nap of the day.
The handicap hurdle (1655) looks longer on quantity than quality, but we have a strong fancy for the Colin Tizzard trained Quiz Master.
He has been knocking on the door all season, registering a form-line of 442253. A tall leggy gelding, he has looked likely to improve with experience, and his 3rd at Chepstow last time was probably his best run to date.
On basics alone, that would be sufficient to give him a good chance to win this relatively modest affair. The scope for continuing physical improvement gives added hope, but the real juice comes from the turn in form for the Tizzard yard. They’ve had a quiet enough season to date, but 9 winners in the last 2 weeks has signalled a real return to form.
Quiz Master’s mark has remained unchanged at 107 despite that good effort at Chepstow and he can surf the wave of his stable’s uplift in fortunes and register a first success.
Recommendation: Quiz Master, (1655 Fontwell), 1pt win, 5/1 generally available
