After the delights of the Middle East, the European Tour heads to South Africa for the Tshwane Open.
Held at the Pretoria Country Club, the event has been in existence since 2013, and has been won by a South African on four of the five occasions.
With this in mind, we will side with some home grown talent. Zander Lombard was born in Pretoria and is bound to know the course well. Just making his way in the professional game, Lombard has an excellent amateur record, and has already finished runner up twice on the European Tour, once in the Johannesburg Open. Despite missing the cut, he finished strongly last week, and at 50/1, we’ll take a punt.
Our other choice is a blog favourite, Julian Suri. The American was our selection for the Qatar Masters last week, but missed the cut. That said, after getting frustrated in the first round, he hit five under in the second round, showing a touch of class. He hits the ball a mile and we think he will show up well on this course.
Suri to win, 1 pt, at 20/1, widely available
Lombard 0.5 pts each way at 50/1, 1/5 the odds for first six, Boyle Sports
