We maintain our aversion to Wolves by concentrating on the early evening action up at Newcastle for our last February Yankee:
The Daily Yankee:
Big Lachie (1815 Newcastle), 7/2: Won here two weeks ago and was a good third on Monday. Finishes well and has more wins in him when the pace is strong, Hadley should ensure that, and Lackie has the winning edge over favourite Tommy G most of whose best form is over later.
The Kings Steed (1845 Newcastle), 11/2: Was in good form before trying a trip too far at Kempton, then pulling too hard at Wolves. A good pace back at a mile saw big improvement last time, race conditions look likely to suit again here, and jockey Ben Robinson’s 5lb claimer is gold dust.
Gorse (1915 Newcastle), 7/2: Progressing now back on the AW. Looked likely winner for a long way over this course and distance last time but was blind-sided by a fast finisher. Looked in peak form that day and is likely to run his race under similar conditions. Jockey Joe Fanning is an excellent booking.
Roy’s Legacy (1945 Newcastle), 9/2: Not much scope for progress on his 127th career run. Whereas some of these are priced on potential to improve, Roy’s Legacy is simply a case of running to form. He was a good winner at Wolves, after a decent 2nd at Chelmsford both off marks of 50, whilst a fair 4th back at Chelmsford came off 58. Now back to 52, he might just have one more chance to strike against this weak field.
