Sunday Nap: My favourite Cousin

A good start to a massive month with yesterday’s nap Encore D’Or landing a tidy win.

Today we head off to Southwell, and as always we are looking for course specialism.

The staying handicap (1620) is over a fairly unusual 2m2f trip.  That is nothing new for veteran 11yo Cousin Khee as he landed a cosy 3l win here recently over this same trip.

That was a 2nd win in 6 course runs and he impressed with a long run for home – a tactic that works so well here where ground is so hard to make up.  Young claimer Theodore Ladd was up last time and continues the partnership.

His chance is clearly solid.  The main danger Western Way has no Southwell experience, and whilst on breeding the course should suit, tactically he has liked to come with a late run, and that rarely works as well here as it did for him at Kempton.

Third favourite Mambo Dancer found a 7lb penalty too much to defy at Chelmsford last week, and this surface is a new departure that looks unlikely to make a positive difference.

Recommendation: Cousin Khee (1620 Southwell), 1pt win, 11/4 generally available
