Premier League: Old Trafford stalemate

Saturday’s early game in the Premier League is a real humdinger!

Manchester United host Liverpool at Old Trafford, with both teams battling to finish second behind runaway leader Manchester City, securing a Champions League spot.

The two teams played out a tedious goalless draw in the reverse fixture in October, with United boss Jose Mourinho parking the bus to try and stop Liverpool’s attacking threats.

United are unlikely to be so negative at home, but Mourinho will remain wary of the form Liverpool have shown away from home. The Reds have won their last three away games, scoring 10 unanswered goals.

That said, United have a very good home record this season, losing just the once and that was against Manchester City.

The two teams clearly want to win, but avoiding defeat may be an even more powerful emotion. The last four matches between these two sides in all competitions have ended as draws, and we at Lap of the Odds think another stalemate is likely.

Recommendation: United/Liverpool to end as a draw, 1 pt, at 12/5, Betfair
