Wednesday Nap: Invest in Space race…

After the storm of Cheltenham, everything feels a bit in the doldrums.  At times like these it helps to find an old favourite on the card.

Outer Space is very much one of those.  He was a hard horse to follow during the Summer, when conditions and race pace were suitable he looked capable of far outrunning his mark, but also was an expert at finding trouble in running.

On other occasions, when the race tactics were less suitable he’d disappoint badly.

A switch to the shallower waters of claimers did the trick, and with it a change of yard to the capable John Flint.

Two wins on his first two runs for the yard saw his slipping handicap rating pushed back up to 82, off which he was a close third in a mass finish last time at Lingfield.

At his best he has run to the low 90s, and with a stronger pace than last time likely here, he can find more pounds of improvement for his new yard.

5lb claimer William Cox has ridden him the last twice and should hopefully use his inside draw as an invite to get him held up and covered up, then come with the late run.  He looks decent value.

Recommendation: Outer Space, (1945 Kempton), 1pt win, 6/1 generally available
