February Results: How did we do?…

A little late to press with the distraction of Cheltenham, but one of our best months should not be forgotten…

The Headlines:

Bets Advised:  75

Points Profit/Loss:    +36.5

Pool Return:   +36.5%

The basis for Pool Return is discussed on the Our Results page of the site, where previous months’ results can be accessed.

Horse Racing continued to be reduced by weather.  Our strike rate slipped behind the rate of recent months, but five 2 point bets and one 3 point bet yielded two winners including 2pts on 10/1 Dublin Festival winner Alletrix.  A few unlucky losers pegged profits back and we ended up 3.5pts off 33 staked.

Football was the month’s star performer returning a profit of 25pts from just 20 staked.  In any normal month the successful 11/1 pick of an Aguero hat-trick would be the highlight, but the 22/1 pick of Wigan to beat Man City in the FA Cup stole the honours.  Wins like that may be hard to repeat, but underlying strike rate continues to be encouragingly good.

Golf provided 4pts of profit from 19 staked.  This mainly arose from our new 10th hole strategy of mid tournament bets.  Joost Luiten’s 16/1 win was the highlight, but would not have been had we had the strength of our convictions in tipping Gary Woodland at 33/1 to win in Phoenix rather than our pick of a top 5 finish at just 3/1.

Other sports also tipped in with 4pts of profit, all coming from the 3pts staked on the Super Bowl.  Not quite enough to turn around our NFL season competely, but reduced the season’s damages to little more than a scratch.

Back in Horse Racing, we are monitoring our Daily Yankee product.  This is measured outside of our main Nap pool.  There were plenty of lessons to take on board in February where a 9.5 point loss was registered on Yankees.  Experience and instinct suggest the onset of the flat season may well provide the broader range for a successful daily yankee, but we will continue to monitor and assess.

As ever, many thanks for your support.
