PGA Tour 10th hole: Play with Poults…

It’s now time to revisit the WGC Dell Technologies Match Play in Austin, Texas as the group stage has finished and the remaining players get down to straight win or go home.

Unfortunately our original selection, Jon Rahm, didn’t make it through to the weekend, and this means we have to look elsewhere for a vehicle to carry our cash.

The new favourite for the event is Justin Thomas, who with victory can become the new world no. 1. He has won all three of his matches so far and should progress past Si Woo Kim, his next opponent. However, he then potentially meets Sergio Garcia, and the 9/2 on offer becomes quite short.

Another American playing well is Patrick Reed. He dismissed fellow Ryder Cup star Jordan Speith yesterday but now has a tricky clash against Alex Noren, another player with a 100% record so far. At around 8/1 we’ll swrve both.

Instead we’ll plump for a different Ryder Cup star – Ian Poulter. The Englishman has a terrific match play record, both in the Ryder Cup (where he is undefeated in singles play) and in winning this tournament in 2010. He also has the added incentive of needing to reach the last four to qualify for the Masters. At 18/1, we think he offers the value.

Recommendation: Poulter to win, 1 pt, at 18/1, BetFred
