Big time heavyweight boxing returns to our shores tonight as Anthony Joshua puts his WBA and IBF belts on the line against WBO holder Joseph Parker.
The Principality Stadium in Cardiff hosts the bout, the first heavyweight unification clash on British soil.
Joshua starts as heavy favourite for this clash of unbeaten fighters, after all he boasts an advantage of two inches in height and six inches in reach. He has also weighed almost a stone lighter than his last fight, suggesting his opponent may not have that much advantage in speed.
It’s dangerous to write off an unbeaten fighter, but we don’t think Parker has faced anyone with Joshua’s punching power. The conventional wisdom calls for the Kiwi to try and take this fight to the latter rounds to test Joshua’s stamina. However, we think the first genuine punch he takes could shake him, and Joshua is hard to hold off when he seeks an early end.
Paddy Power offers 5/1 that Joshua ends the fight in the first three rounds, and we’ll be on that.
Recommendation: Joshua to win in rounds 1-3, 1 pt, at 5/1, Paddy Power
