Friday Nap: Gee whizz…

Apres le famine…..a second consecutive winning nap, an easy win for Poet’s Prince, may not have landed a monster blow to the bookies, but lifting the strike rate with a few winners was overdue and welcome.

We’ll be waiting until the final race of the day to try and land a hat-trick of naps.

The Chelmsford 3yo mile handicap (2115) has the potential for any number of unexposed contenders, but Geetanjali looks likely to be very hard to beat.

She showed nothing in maidens for the Bell yard, but quickly set about disproving an opening mark of 54 when a tidy Wolverhampton winner on handicap debut under today’s pilot Joe Fanning.

That was a good win as she had to overcome some mid-race traffic issues and then still come again.

She was around 3l ahead of Olive Mabel, the big rival again here, who’s unlucky run that day and 4lb weight swing has seen her well supported.

Technically, the revised terms should be close to a dead heat, but years of experience suggest that when one horse beats another it will usually do so again.

Recommendation: Geetanjali, (2115 Chelmsford), 1pt win, 5/2 generally available
