Monday Nap: Breaking a habit…

We were back on the winning track with yesterday’s nap The Bay Birch obliging in effortless fashion at a generous 3/1.  That’s 4 from the last 5, and we’ll be looking to extend that deep into Aintree week.

A few weeks ago we supported the progressive hurdler Breaking Ground in a Hereford handicap.

It didn’t work out for him that day, despite cruising into the lead before the second last it looked like he just couldn’t get home on some deep rain-softened ground.

He has been generously dropped a pound, but it’s the flat Kempton track and the promise of a sounder surface that suggest he can deliver on the promise of that last effort.

Jockey Richie Mclernon knows the horse well, and whilst no Kempton handicap is easy to win, this one looks to lack strength in depth.  We’ll give the horse the second chance his last effort deserved.

Recommendation:  Breaking Ground, (1750 Kempton), 1pt win, 6/1 Ladbroke
