The PGA Tour leaves the razzmatazz of the Masters at Augusta in Georgia behind and moves to the neighbouring state of South Carolina for the RBC Heritage tournament at Harbour Town.
World no. 1 Dustin Johnson makes his first appearance here since 2009, and starts as favourite. However, this course with its narrow fairways doesn’t play to his strength off the tee and at the odds we’ll look elsewhere.
Englishman Luke Donald has come second three times in the last four years–we won’t put you off putting some each way money on him–and serves as the template for the type of golfer required – not long but accurate off the tee, sharp with the short irons and a very good scrambler/putter.
The first person that springs to mind is Patrick Cantlay. He was a former world no. 1 as an amateur but didn’t make the cut in the Masters last week. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing as the course didn’t suit and he has had time to rest. He finished tied third here last year and we fancy him to go well again.
Our second choice is Brian Harman. We were keen on the left hander at the Masters last week but the course proved a little too long for him. Instead we’ll hope his putter kicks into gear this week.
Cantlay 0.5 each way at 28/1, 1/5 the odds for first eight places, SkyBet
Harman 0.5 pts each way at 30/1, 1/5 the odds for first six places, William Hill
