Our Hexham Yankee was a damp squib yesterday with the course failing to pass a morning inspection (whom amongst us would…). We’ll play safe with the all weather today.
The Daily Yankee:
Buckland Beau, (1745 Kempton), 8/1: an old course veteran he has been struggling for his best form. That said he has now dropped to a low of 66 and showed some form of late even away from his favourite track. Now back here and dropped in class he may just be ready to come good again.
Jacobs Cats, (2015 Kempton), 9/1: The form horse here is Kelly’s Dino who topped off a fine winter campaign with a good second in the prestigious Roseberry here last time. But we like Jacobs Cats who was nearly 5l behind in 7th that day. He was 33/1 then and making a season debut suggesting he needed the run. It was a promising effort and with De Sousa up top he could improve to give the favourite a real scare.
Master Grey, (2045 Kempton), 7/2: Has had three quiet maiden runs, but looks well handicapped now given decent breeding that also suggests improvement on this surface. Plenty of money suggests he’s expected to deliver for a stable that knows how to get these runners well in.
New Rich, (2115 Kempton), 6/1: Course and distance specialist who looked in flying form when a good close third here last time from an awful draw. Always needs a good pace and looks likely to get that tonight, and can come fast and late for the win.
