PGA Tour: Holmes under the hammer…

The PGA Tour heads to Texas this week, with the AT&T Oaks Course hosting the Valero Texas Open.

The players move from last week’s tree-lined, traditional course to something that favours the long hitters off the tee and those that can take advantage of the long par 4s.

A number of the Tour’s top players are taking a break this week, and this means favourite is Sergio Garcia. The Spaniard now considers Texas his adopted home, but his form hasn’t been great of late and we pass. Matt Kuchar is next in the betting, but he has had difficulty winning of late, so we’ll looking further down the list.

One of the first names that springs to mind when seeking length off the tee is JB Holmes. The American bomber hasn’t had a great season to date, fourth at the Farmers Open in late January is his best result. But he has a pretty good record around this course, finishing in the top 13  three times in five starts, and won in Texas in 2015, admittedly not at this event. He’ll need his putter to warm up, but at 60/1 we’ll take that chance.

The second player on our list is Luke List. The 33-year old American has had his best  year to date on the PGA Tour, including three top ten finishes in his last six starts. He finished third last week at a course which didn’t play to his prodigious length off the tee, and we expect another strong showing this week.

Recommendations:

JB Holmes 0.5 pts each way at 60/1, 1/5 the odds for the first six places, Unibet

List to win, 1 pt, at 25/1, widely available
