We going to take an ambitious poke at four in a row with a richly contested Newmarket 7f handicap (1720)
The locally trained Mjjack looks likely to be the one.
As a 4yo he is entitled to improve for another Winter break. A busy season last year resulted in runs in 3 of the hugely valuable big field Ascot 7f handicaps, finishing second, second and sixth.
That great series hasn’t gone unnoticed by the raters, Mjjack being hoisted up to today’s mark of 99.
His seasonal reappearance was a gently eye-catching never nearer 5th in a top sprint race at Doncaster. He went off joint favourite that day, giving the impression more was expected, but to our eyes it just need a longer trip for him to prevail.
He gets that here, and the 3lb claimed by Clifford Lee helps further.
If he picks up the baton where he left it last season, then MJJack should have plenty of scope for improvement, a fitness edge over many and a chance to finally land a big prize.
Recommendation: MJJack, (1720 Newmarket, 1pt win 6/1.
