The Daily Yankee:
Society Red, (1440 Pontefract), 7/1: was generally progressive as a 3yo with good form at up to 10f. This stiff mile could suit, he has had an all weather warm up and the stable love to get off to a quick start.
Poyle Vinnie, (1510 Pontefract), 9/1: formerly a top sprint handicapper, his rating has plummeted but has shown some form of late for his new stable. Well drawn and favours some cut in the ground and could spring a surprise.
Uptown Funk, (1540 Pontefract), 10/3: last seen over hurdles at Musselburgh when falling at the last whilst challenging. Was stepping up in trip when last on the flat with a good staying on 3rd at Newcastle and looks likely to appreciate this first round of the Pontefract marathon series.
Crosse Fire (1715 Pontefract), 7/2: incredibly busy horse with 10 all weather runs already this calendar year. Has reached a mark of 78 there but gets to run off just 65 back on turf which is only 1lb higher than when a winner here last summer. Well drawn and as fit as a flea.
