Yesterday’s big each way Nap, Man Of Plenty, ran a blinder to come second at a morning best of 22/1.
Today’s Nap is in another big Punchestown handicap, the 2m Chase (1805).
The Willie-Gordon battle continues with Fairyhouse 2nds Bon Papa and Sunsetstorise contesting favouritism.
Of the two, Bon Papa has more class and more scope and should go close, but he is rated just 7lbs below trailblazing UK challenger Speredek, which looks tight.
Speredek is not without a chance, but all look set to play second fiddle to De Bromhead’s Three Stars.
His form has sky-rocketed in his last two outings. At the Dublin festival he was the only horse remotely close to winner there and again here yesterday, Patrick’s Park. A 4lb rise for that effort look like a huge underestimate.
It also leaves him 3lb lower than when a close 5th in the Grand Annual at Cheltenham, a placing good enough to be leading Irish horse.
He is clearly in good form, and either of those last two runs could prove good enough today.
Recommendation: Three Stars, (1605 Punchestown), 1pt win, 11/1 generally available
