The Daily Yankee:
Knightly Spirit, (1340 Doncaster), 11/4: Trainer Roger Varian has his stable in good early season form whilst jockey Andrea Atzeni simply loves riding at this track. The horse showed promise as a two year old, including form on this soft surface. A mark of 74 looks a serious underestimate for a well bred colt from a top yard. Should be easy work.
Sevenna Star, (1500 Sandown), 11/4: Ran away with a maiden event at Windsor recently. Was that a poor race? Was it down to the heavy ground? Or is this a very decent horse? That gets tested here. He should probably be slightly odds against making the jump in class, but he is significantly odds against and that looks too generous.
Petite Power, (1545 Perth), 6/1: lightly raced staying chaser from a yard that does well in these races. Was a good second in the Surrey National and should go close again under similar conditions here. Favourite and topweight Ballymalin has a few too many letters in his fledgling chasing career form whilst the rest have plenty to prove.
Press Conference, (1945 Punchestown), 10/3: Trainer Jessica Harrington often picks up a bumper or two during Punchestown week and Press Conference looks the pick this week. A decent point-to-point winner he made a bumper debut at Naas in February. He was a long way ahead of the rest but comfortably held by the winner that day, Carefully Selected. That horse has since finished second in the Cheltenham bumper and third in the top bumper here this week. There shouldn’t be one of that class in here and Press Conference should be making the headlines.
