Premier League: Looking for midfield magic…

There are a couple of Premier League games to enjoy Sunday, starting with Manchester City‘s visit to London to take on West Ham.

The home team are just three points above the relegation zone and desperate for a win but now face the newly crowned champions.

And any thoughts that they could lack focus having clinched the title are likely to be disproved. After all City need two wins to set a new record for the most wins in a season, six points for another record and six goals for a third Premier League record.

City have won their last four away Premier League fixtures, after a three game slip, and we think they will continue this streak today.

City’s Spanish magician David Silva has an impressive record at West Ham, scoring four times in six games, but he looks set to miss this clash. Instead we’ll take his Belgian colleague Kevin de Bruyne to control the game from midfield. He is priced at 3/1 to score anytime, but we’ll take the 9/2 on offer that he wins the man of the match award.

The second game is traditionally one of the season’s highlights, Manchester United against Arsenal.

It was only a few years ago this game would be seen as a title decider, less so these days.

Arsenal’s focus is on the Europa League and Thursday’s second leg of the semifinal against Atletico Madrid. The side manager Arsene Wenger picks today is likely to reflect this.

Manchester United have the FA Cup final to consider, but that comes later in May and manager Jose Mourinho will want to have clinched second place by then.

We think United have more incentive to win this game, and are thus likely to do so.

Alexis Sanchez probably has additional incentive to play well today. It’s fair to say it has taken time for him to settle down at Old Trafford after his controversial January move from Arsenal. But the Chilean midfielder starred last week in the FA Cup semifinal and this is the sort of game to get his juices flowing.

He is priced around 9/2 to open the scoring today, but we’ll take the 8/1 that he nets a brace.
