Monday Nap: Pet project…

More typical Monday fare including the inevitable Windsor evening card.

We’ll stay patient until late (1940) for today’s nap.

Trainer Roger Charlton is an expert at developing horses slowly.  His runner here, Petitioner, saw the track just 3 times as a 3yo, winning a maiden before being runner up in his first handicap at Newmarket last summer.

He has been off again since and turns up here off a mark of 82.  That could prove to be generous as the horse is bred to be a whole lot better, add in the clear scope for improvement from 3 to 4 years, and he starts to look very interesting.

There aren’t many in the field that can match his potential and he should have little problem building on the promise of those 3yo runs.

Recommendation: Petitioner, (1940 Windsor), 1pt win, 2/1 generally available
