Tuesday Nap: Tuck into selection Box

Glad to see the back of April.  The weather is on the turn and soon we will be in the heart of the flat season.

For today’s nap we head to one of our favourite all weather tracks, Kempton.

Chocolate Box (1945) was trained until the end of last year by the legendary Luca Cumani.  He ran consistently over middle distances but it was only when stepped up to 14f and moved onto this surface that he registered real improvement in staying on well to win a duel at Chelmsford with the rest well beaten.

He signed off for Luca with a staying on 3rd stepped back to 12f and switched to the Wolverhampton surface.

He joined new trainer David Loughnane at the Autumn sales and his stable debut last month saw an instant repayment when he was a comfortable winner back over the Chelmsford track and now up to 2 miles.

A 5lb rise for that last win does not look enough.  The matching track surface here should allow for full translation of the form whilst all weather king Luke Morris retains the ride.

Recommendation:  Chocolate Box, (1945 Kempton), 1pt win, 10/3 generally available
