Europa League: Atletico say adios to Arsene…

It’s make or break for Arsenal’s season tonight.

They go into the second leg of the semifinal of the Europa League knowing making the final means the potential of Champions League next season still exits. Defeat and the season—Arsenal Wenger’s last—is over, in disappointment.

The only problem is that they drew the first leg at home 1-1 after playing the majority of the game against 10 men. And now they face Atletico Madrid, and their famed defence, in Spain having given up an away goal.

And Arsenal’s record away from home has been less than stellar, putting it mildly. In the league they have yet to pick up a single point in 2018, while they are winless in their last six visits to Spain.

Atletico, by contrast, have lost just one of their past 17 home games in European competition. They possess the meanest defence in La Liga, and have conceded only three goals at home in 2018.

This all points to Arsenal’s elimination from the tournament.

Arsenal have to score tonight and they found it difficult to do so at home against 10 men. We think a more open Arsenal will only lead to more Atletico chances, and thus we’re going to take a punt on a 2-0 scoreline.

Recommendation: Atletico to win 2-0, 1 pt, at 7/1, widely available
